Version 2.0 - September 27, 2026
A Daily Practice, Not a Quiz
Version 2.0 rebuilds the heart of the app. The quiz is gone, and with it the idea that one answer was right and the other was wrong.
- Replaced the quiz with a daily practice: a handful of short items each day across five concepts. Each one offers two options a thoughtful person might choose, and neither is marked correct. If a situation did not come up for you, you can say so and it counts as nothing at all
- The practice now moves through five concepts — Right Speech, Kindness, Patience, Letting Go, and Mindfulness. Each is a tension rather than a virtue to score: sparing someone or telling them, waiting or pressing, setting something down or keeping it live
- Introduced Patterns, replacing the radar chart. Instead of a score per category, Patterns shows where you actually sit between a concept’s two poles — one mark for what you would do, another for what you did — and the gap between them. Most of us predict we will be more patient than we turn out to be, and Patterns shows that distance rather than hiding it
- A concept’s mark is only drawn once there is enough behind it to mean something. Thin concepts say so instead of drawing a shape from too little
- Added Reflections — an optional written note at the end of a session, kept as an archive you can read back
- Reworked Achievement Badges around the new practice. Badges for correct answers and category mastery no longer made sense and have been retired; if you already earned one it stays on your profile, but it is no longer handed out. Twenty-seven badges are now reachable, across streaks, daily practice, breathing, reflections and Ask Buddha
- Ask Buddha history is now available on the free plan — your 7 most recent questions and answers are kept, rather than none. Premium keeps the full history
- General performance and stability improvements
The old app asked whether you knew the wiser answer. This one assumes you usually do, and asks what you actually chose.
Version 1.9 - July 29, 2026
Achievement Badges, Apple Health & Breathing Haptics
- Introduced Achievement Badges — 32 badges to unlock through streaks, correct answers, category mastery, breathing practice, and Ask Buddha milestones. Each one is a unique mandala set into a struck medallion, and your unlocked badges collect in a new section on your profile
- Added Apple Health sync on iOS — every completed breathing session is saved to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes, so your practice sits alongside the rest of your health. It is off until you turn it on in Settings, and the app only writes your sessions: it never reads your health data
- Added Breathing Haptics — gentle taps that guide your breath so you can keep your eyes closed instead of watching the screen. Choose Off, Minimal (one tap as each phase begins), or Prominent (an accelerating ramp through every inhale) — read more on the Breathing Guide page
- General performance and stability improvements
This update makes your practice easier to feel and easier to see: guided by touch, collected on your profile, and recorded in Apple Health.
Version 1.8 - April 20, 2026
Growth Tracking, Guest Mode & Deeper Practice
- Added onboarding screens to guide new users through the app
- Introduced Buddhist Concepts Radar Chart on your profile, tracking your strengths and areas for growth across 8 core concepts: Compassion, Patience, Letting Go, Mindfulness, Right Speech, Acceptance, Kindness, and Wisdom
- Added Guest Mode, letting you use the full app anonymously on your device
- You can still sign in anytime to sync your progress across devices and preserve your journey
- Expanded the Breathing Guide with four traditional techniques: Sama (Box) Breathing, Ānāpānasati (Mindfulness of Breathing), Mettā (Loving-Kindness) Breathing, and Vase Breathing (Kumbhaka) — read more on the Breathing Guide page
- Premium subscribers can now revisit their Ask Buddha conversation history — every question and response is saved, and you can delete individual entries or clear the history at any time
This update brings deeper personalization and growth insights, a gentler first-run experience, and a richer set of contemplative practices for everyday use.
