Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how the app works, what's free, and what it isn't. Can't find what you're looking for? Email us.

Is Choose Like Buddha free? +
Yes. The Free Path is free forever and includes 5 practice questions a day, 2 Ask Buddha questions a day, Sama (Box) breathing, and your full Practice Map with streaks and badges. There are no ads, and no account is required.
Do I need to be Buddhist to use it? +
No. The app uses Buddhist ideas as a practical lens for everyday decisions, not as religious instruction. No prior knowledge is needed, and nothing in the app asks you to adopt a belief.
What is Ask Buddha? +
Ask Buddha lets you describe any real-life situation and receive thoughtful guidance inspired by Buddhist wisdom. Free users get 2 questions a day; the Enlightened Path raises that to 20 and saves your history.
Is Ask Buddha a therapist? +
No. Ask Buddha offers a calm, reflective perspective generated by AI, and it is not a substitute for therapy, counselling, or medical advice. If you are struggling, please speak to a qualified professional.
What is the Enlightened Path? +
The Enlightened Path is the optional premium plan at $3.99 a month. It raises the daily limits to 10 practice questions and 20 Ask Buddha questions, saves your Ask Buddha history, and unlocks all four breathing techniques.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Cancel any time from your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. Billing is handled by the store rather than by us, and premium features stay active until the end of the period you have paid for.
Is there an annual plan? +
Not currently. Only a monthly subscription is offered, and there is no one-time purchase.
Is my data private? +
Choose Like Buddha is ad-free and does not share your personal data with other users. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail of what is collected and why.
What are the 8 Buddhist concepts? +
Your progress is tracked across 8 core concepts: Compassion, Patience, Acceptance, Mindfulness, Right Speech, Kindness, Letting Go, and Wisdom. Every practice question maps to one of them.
I found a bug. How do I report it? +
Send an email to [email protected] with a description of the issue and your device type. We appreciate the help.
